Alan Ross is an internationally known photographer and educator.  His work has an emphasis on nature and the environment. He worked side-by-side with Ansel Adams as his assistant for years at his darkroom here in Carmel. Alan has been seeking the sublime beauty within nature for decades, and creating images that elevate it!

YOU ARE INVITED to hear Alan Ross speak about his photography, living in Santa Fe, N.M. and working with Ansel Adams on Monday May 18 at 4pm. There will also be a display of Alan Ross prints exhibited that evening.

Considered a darkroom master, his work and techniques of masking are considered by many to be the finest, resulting in exceptional silver gelatin prints. In other words, “How does he make something so challenging look so effortless?” says Carmel Visual Arts photography director, Carol Henry. Alan Ross has also embraced the digital world and recognizes that the technology driven world of photography keeps advancing. Come hear his thoughts on both!
