Bill Cone Workshop—Pastel & Oil
A Plein Air Painting Workshop
Instructor: Bill Cone
Dates: May 6–8, 2024
Medium: Pastel / Oil
Class Limit: 12 students
Level: All Levels
Join the Bill Cone workshop to explore the beauty of the California coast around the Carmel region. We’ll spend 3 days painting onsite at different locations, with daily demos and one-on-one instruction. The focus will be on the atmosphere, water, and composing shots. There will be an introductory Zoom lecture a few days before the class begins, and we’ll get together after class one night for dinner and drinks.
Bill works in pastels, but some of his regular attendees use other mediums, so you are welcome to work in the medium you are comfortable with. Feel free to contact Bill Cone directly if you have any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org
A graduate of the Art Center College of Design in 1983, Bill Cone has been painting landscapes for more than 25 years, often in the East Bay hills, with yearly pack trips into the Sierra mountains. His pastel paintings have been exhibited in group and one-man shows throughout California. His “day job” for 29 years was as a Production Designer for Pixar Animation Studios, where he did hundreds of pastel lighting studies for films that include Toy Story, Cars, Inside Out, Up, and Lucca. He has lectured at numerous Plein Air Conventions and events and teaches plein air workshops. You are invited to join Bill Cone for this exciting workshop.
