Photographing the outstanding California coast we call Big Sur is more than just extreme beauty to be captured by the pros. This photography contest has a twist of the vernacular with an emphasis on the creation of photographs by amateur or unknown photographers. All those who observe scenery and everyday life in Big Sur as worthy photographic subjects including Big Sur’s outstanding beauty may enter. 

Just for fun if you are an Instagram junkie, you can tag your photo #bigsurphotoplay @carmelvisualarts to share in limitless Big Sur images.

10 Grand Prizes will be awarded from the Lomography store,
including cameras, film and gift certificates.

The Big Sur Photo Play exhibition is Saturday, April 5th at 7pm in CVA where select images will be featured on the walls as posters and all images will be projected on the big screen to DJ mixes.

fire1BIG SUR FIRE RELIEF: The Coast Property Owner’s Association (CPOA) is collecting donations for those who lost property in the Big Sur fire. The team that administered support to those impacted by the 2008 fires is still intact and ready to serve our community again. Your donation is the greatest source of support to those in need right now. The CPOA is a 501(c)(3) and all contributions are tax deductible. 100% of your gift will go toward those who have lost homes and property in the fire. You may earmark your donation to a specific individual.

Photo Submission Guidelines

All layers must be flattened.
Images must be sized between 1280 and 1800 pixels long on the longest side.
Image resolution is 72 pixels per inch. The juror will review on monitor.
Image color profile must be in RGB or Grayscale.
Save images as a .jpg using the highest quality that keeps the file size under 2mb.
FILE NAMING IS AS FOLLOWS: “lastname_firstitinitial_imagename.jpg”
