Rich Brimer

Director

Rich Brimer finds the dramatic beauty of the California coast an irresistible muse for his plein air paintings! Stalking the incredible light and beauty of the area and capturing it in pigment has become a ritual. With leadership skills formed in Ventura County art organizations that he participated in, combined with being a naturally patient painting instructor, Rich brings it all to Carmel Visual Arts in Carmel, California. The regional history of the arts on the Monterey peninsula provided an extra incentive for Rich to relocate and partner with Carol Henry in this creative center for the arts over 5 years ago.

Rich’s background is a combination of illustration and technology, with a special interest in documentary film before he turned his attention full-time to fine art several years ago. He received his education at California Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Arts.

As the director of Carmel Visual Arts his vision is to have a space where artists, from around the region and all points beyond, are presented with enriching art education experiences. With CVA’s world-class exhibits and workshops, Rich is bringing out the artist in everyone.

The California Lutheran University graduate (B.A. Fine Art) is Past President of the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley where he was on the board for 4 years as well as Past President of Studio Channel Islands Art Center in Camarillo, CA. Rich is the Chair of the Monterey County chapter of the California Art Club.
