The Heart of Steinbeck Country art exhibit is a two-dimensional art exhibition with artwork inspired by quotes from any John Steinbeck novel. Carmel Visual Arts is holding this open call-for-entries competition and will be hosting a related free public exhibition, Oct 15 – Nov 13, 2014. It will increase the visual awareness of the author’s passion for the region as a setting for his stories and further increase cultural awareness for his characters. As we now understand, the outstanding beauty of the region was only a backdrop for timeless real life experiences! 
During this outreach we will invite an interpretation of the theme, “The Heart of Steinbeck Country,” through the creative process with painting, drawing, mixed media and photography. At Carmel Visual Arts, our goal will be to create an exhibition that focuses on the visual interpretation of his literary journey as heartfelt, informative and thought provoking.

All selected artwork must be delivered by: Saturday October 4, 2014
